AP police seeks Gujarat police help

Hyderabad, June 4 (UNI) The Ranga Reddy district police has sought the assistance of the Gujarat police to resolve the issue of the arrest of a 14 members of a Gujarat based gang in Tandur town of Ranga Reddy district on June 2.

The Police here today said the district police has sent a fax to the Superintendent of Police of Jam Nagar, from where the gang hailed, and sought the details of the 14-member gang.

The Police were questioning the gang members led by Moulana who were arrested at a lodge, based on a complaint by the Children Rights Protection Forum (CRPF) that they were allegedly involved in the smuggling of poor women to Gujarat by performing 'fake marriages' since last year.

The gang had came to town to marry off poor girls by luring their fathers with money and other attractive packages.

The gang used to pay Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 to the parents of poor girls while leaving for Gujarat along with the girls, the sources said.
