Anxious Meena legislators meet to plan strategy
Jaipur, June 4 (UNI) Concerned over the ongoing talks between Rajasthan government and Gujjar leadership, rival Meena Ministers and legislators met at the residence of state Tribal Development Minister Kanakmal Katara today.
The Vasundhara Raje-led government is holding talks with Gujjar leader Col (retd) K S Bainsla today to end the impasse over the community's demand for Scheduled Tribe status.
As many as 20 Meena lawmakers gathered at the residence of Mr Katara to take stock of the situation. Those who attended the meeting include Civil Supplies Minister Kirorilal Meena, minister of state for Finance Virendra Meena, Dhan Singh Rawat, MP, former MPs Kunjilal Meena, former Speaker Samarat Lal Meena and former Congress minister Rahuveer Singh Meena.
Speaking to mediapersons Ministers Kanakmal Katara and Kirorilal Meena said the Meenas do not approve of the Gujjar's demand. They categorically denied the state government sending a recommendation in this regard.
The Meena legislators had earlier threatened to resign en-masse if the government recommended Gujjars for inclusion in the ST list.
