Antony seeks coop from S'pore in maritime security

Singapore, June 4: Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has said India to continue using his country as a springboard to broaden and deepen its engagement with East Asia.

He emphasised the strong ties between the two countries during his meeting with Defence Minister A K Antony yesterday, who was here for the annual Shangri-La Dialogue and the Asia Security Conference organised by Singapore.

The two leaders exchanged views on the strong cooperation between their two countries in many areas, including defence, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in maritime security, according to a Singapore Foreign Ministry statement.

Mr Antony also expressed appreciation for Singapore's role as a key partner in India's Look East policy.
