Aluminium June contract loses 0.66 pc at Rs 113.15 per kg on MCX

Mumbai, June 4 (UNI) Aluminium June '07 contract today was down 0.66 per cent at Rs 113.15 per kg on Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).

Turnover of all aluminium contracts today was Rs 13.71 crore with volume of 1,208 tonnes and OI of 5,210 tonnes.

However, turnover on MCX in all essential and non essential commodities in the first session up to 1700 today was Rs 2,650.93 crore. Total number of trades was 52,432.

MCX Comdex -- the composite index of metal, energy and agri indices also was down 0.09 per cent (pc) at 2159.97 points. MCX Metal Index was down 0.06 pc at 2604.47 points, MCX Energy Index was down up 0.10 pc at 2170.42 points and MCX Agri Index ended up 0.65 per cent lower at 1682.06 points, an official release issued by MCX said.

Bullion turnover totalled Rs 1069.7 crore with gold accounting for Rs 590.2 crore and silver Rs 479.5 crore. Gold contract volumes were 6,588 kgs and open interest (OI) 12,549 kgs while silver volumes were 257,355 kgs and OI was 501,675 kgs.

Gold contracts, including gold mini, traded in a mixed range of - Rs 11 to Rs 3 per 10 gms, with the June contract up 0.01 pc at Rs 8797. Silver contracts, including silver mini, traded between - Rs23 to Rs 39 per kg. The July contract was up 0.11 pc at Rs 18,646 per kg.

In the base metals segment, copper contracts turnover was Rs 708.54 crore with volume of 23,176,000 kg and OI of 15,054,000 kg.

Copper contracts traded between Re 0.20 and Rs 3.20 per kg with the June contract being up by 0.07 pc at Rs 306.05 per kg. Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 308.77 crore with volume of 20,245 tonnes and OI of 22,595 tonnes. Zinc contracts were down by between Re 0.60 to Re.0.85 with the June contract steady slightly lower at Rs 152.50 per kg. Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 55.47 crore with volume of 281,000 kg and OI of 429,500 kg. Nickel for June delivery was up 0.03 pc at Rs 1975.80 per kg.

In the energy segment, crude oil contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 193.65 crore. Volume was 734,600 barrels and OI 1,133,500 barrels. Crude oil June contract was down 0.27 at Rs 2627 per barrel. Natural gas turnover of all contracts was Rs 3.72 crore with volume of 116,500 mm BTU and OI of 1,261,000 mm BTU. Natural gas for June delivery was up 0.34 pc at Rs 320.50 per mm BTU.

Among agri commodities, guarseed contracts witnessed a turnover of Rs 8 crore with volume of 4,430 tonnes and OI of 6,110 tonnes. The June contract lost 0.48 per cent to end at Rs 1766.50 per quintal.

Potato (Agra and Tarkeshwar) witnessed a turnover of Rs 15.57 crore with volume of 2,5410 tonnes and OI of 98,370 tonnes.

Mentha oil contracts witnessed a turnover of Rs 40.10 crore with volume of 809 tonnes and OI of 1,077 tonnes.

Chana contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 11.57 crore, volume of 5,210 tonnes and OI of 3,760 tonnes. Refined soya oil contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 202.50 crore with volume of 41.400 tonnes and OI of 44,810 tonnes. Robusta coffee turnover was Rs 0.05 crore with volume of 8 tonnes and OI of 659 tonnes. Cardamom contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 0.38 crore, volume of 52 tonnes and OI of 656 tonnes. Soyabean turnover was Rs 5.1 crore, volume 33,100 tonnes and OI 7,300 tonnes, a spokesperson of MCX added.
