AIADMK announces candidate for Madurai West bypoll

Chennai, June 4 (UNI) The Opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) will field former party Madurai district Secretary Chellur K Raju for the June 26 byelection to the Madurai West Assembly constituency.

Party General Secretary J Jayalalithaa announced, in a statement here today, that the party parliamentary committee had zeroed in on Mr Raju.

The byelection was necessitated by the death of sitting AIADMK Legislator S V Shanmugham.
