Action against errant Municipal, Panchayat secretaries

Thiruvananthapuram, June 4 (UNI) Local Self-Government Minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty today issued orders directing disciplinary action against Municipal and Gram Panchayat secretaries, who failed to act against illegal constructions in their areas.

In the order, the Minister also directed the Departmental Secretary submit a detailed report about the illegal constructions in each Local Self-Government Institutions within ten days, a release said here.

Stating that the government had noted that a large number of illegal constructions had taken place to violate the Kerala Municipal Building and Construction Rules and Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, he said the government would take stern action against them.

He reiterated that the government would never allow any kind of illegal constructions in the state, Mr Mohammed Kutty said the government had information that some local self-government institutions had made serious lapses in this regard.

He also asked to make available all the details regarding the illegal constructions in Corporation, Municipality and Gram Panchayat (separately) with action taken report against such constructions, the release added.
