4 Pak infiltrators as many militants among 9 killed in J
Srinagar, June 4 (UNI) Four heavily armed Pakistani infiltrators and as many militants were among nine people killed and 12 others injured while security forces recovered war like stores, including explosives and hand grenades in Jammu and Kashmir.
A defence spokesperson Lt Colonel S D Goswami said at Jammu that troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) at manjakote in Rajouri district noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).
He said when challenged and asked to surrender in this side of the border near a particular area, the infiltrators opened fire.
Troops also retaliated and in the fierce encounter four militants were killed.
The army did not suffered any causality in the operation, he said.
However, no Army personnel were injured in the operation, he said adding four AK rifles, 21 magazines, 310 rounds, four Under Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGL), nine hand grenades, one wireless set, one antenna and three wire cutters from the slain militants.
The identity of the militants, who appeared to be foreigners, was being ascertained, the spokesperson said.
It was the fifth infiltration bid foiled by security forces in the last ten days.
Earlier on May 30, three infiltrating militants were gunned down near LoC in Sabre Gali of Poonch's Mendhar area.
Similarly, security forces foiled militants' bid to enter into Indian territory from Keri sector of Rajouri district on May 25 and from Krishna Ghati in Poonch district on the intervening night of May 25 and May 26.
