Sultry weather continues, one killed by sunstroke

Kolkata, Jun 3 (UNI) Kolkata today witnessed a sultry day as heat waves continued to lash the city and humidity soared with traces of rainfall in some places.

Met officials recorded a maximum temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius with two degrees above normal and the minimum was 27.8 degrees Celsius with one degree above normal.

Maximum humidity was read at 84 per cent and the minimum went down to 62 per cent.

Met department predicts sultry development with hot weather towards afternoon or night.

A middle-aged man died of heatstroke near the Dakshineshwar Kali Mandir ghat from where he was returning after taking a dip.

Identity of the deceased was yet to be ascertained, police said.
