Shimla's maximum soars to 28.4 degrees

Shimla, June 2 (UNI) Shimla town today recorded the hottest day of summer season at 28.4 degree Celsius, bettering the yesterday's high of 28.3 degrees, the met office said.

The state capital's maximum temperature at 28.4 degrees was over four degrees above normal with humidity levels also rising sharply during the afternoon following overcast conditions.

The met office said the town's minimum temperature, however, dropped by a degree to 17.2 degrees as compared to 18.2 degree Celsius recorded yesterday.

The maximum temperature at Una town of the state crossed the 40 degree mark for the third successive day today after being the hottest place of the state with a high at 42.3 degree Celsius yesterday.

The maximum at Sundernagar dropped to 36.3 degrees as compared to 38 degrees recording yesterday following 6.6 mm of rain, while Bhuntar shed four degrees to stand at 31 degrees as compared to 35.4 degrees yesterday after 4.3 mm of rain.

The met office said the maximum at Kalpa in Kinnuar dropped by a degree to stand at 23.4 as compared to 24.1 degree Celsius recorded yesterday.

Overcast conditions were prevailing in the town since afternoon after a bright and a sunny morning followed by intermittent rains and strong velocity winds.

The met office has predicted more rains, thundershowers and gale force winds at isolated places in the state during the next 24 hrs.
