Police constable assaulted

Mumbai, June 03 (UNI) A police constable was assaulted by a robber early today at Kurar Village in the western suburbs of the city.

Police said police constables Sunil Ghosalkar, Bhogale, Kulgukara and Tatkare were on the look-out for a wanted robber Naresh Raghunath Dhanawade.

Mr Ghosalkar had received information that the accused would be coming to his residence last night. At around 0330 hours Ghosalkar and others went to his house and knocked the door.

On opening the door, the accused identified Ghosalkar and stabbed him. The latter suffered chest and head injuries.

The Accused's two other associates Jagdish Patel and Umesh who were hiding in Dhanawade's house managed to escape from the spot.

Ghosalkar has been admitted to Bhagwati Hospital. He is out of danger.

Police has arrested Dhanawade, who was wanted in several cases of robbery in the western suburbs, police added.
