Opium worth Rs one crore recovered, 11 arrested

Hazaribagh, Jun 3 (UNI) About 300 kg of opium worth about Rs 1 crore was recovered and 11 persons were arrested in a joint operation conducted by district police and Special Task Force (STF) today in this district of Jharkhand.

Superintendent of Police Praveen Singh said that the opium worth about one crore laden in three vehicles was recovered from Chatra more area in the district.

The opium obtained from Pathargadda and Gidhour of Chatra district was being taken to Lucknow and Barabanki of Uttar Pradesh, Mr Singh added.

Among 11 persons arrested in this connection, two hailed from UP, two from Bihar and other seven from Jharkhand.

Police were conducting raids in neighbouring Bihar, UP and differnt areas of Jharkhand in this connection.
