Maj Dhanchand's son becomes Chief Coach

Bhopal, June 3 (UNI) Former Olympian Ashok Kumar -- the son of legendary sportsman Major Dhyanchand -- has been appointed as Chief Coach of the Madhya Pradesh State Men's Hockey Academy, official sources said.

''Hockey is a game played with art, the mind, speed and power. It will be our endeavour to excel,'' he told reporters after assuming office here today.

The national team's Chief Coach Gurdyal Singh Bhangu has assumed office as Chief Coach, State Women's Hockey Academy, Gwalior.
