Iran not to suspend nuke prog under US pressure

Hyderabad, June 3: Maintaining that Iran was well within its right to pursue its nuclear programme for peaceful purposes, Iranian Consulate General here Hossein Ravish has asserted there is no question of suspending its nuclear programme under pressure from the US and its allies.

''Every nation has every right to develop technology for the betterment of its people,'' he underlined, while commemorating the 18th anniversy of the demise of Hazrat Imam Khomeini, founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran here last night.

Iran's nuclear programme was only aimed at enhancing the technology for improving agriculture productivity and applying it in the medical field, he said.

Referring to the Iran-Pakistan-India(IPI) gas pipeline project, he said it was in the final stage now. Its early implementation would bring prosperity to the entire region by meetiwang the increasing energy demands.

Recalling the 3,000-year-old ties between India and Iran, he thanked the Andhra Pradesh government for naming a street in Hyderabad after Imam Khomeini.
