Ferozpur rail division declared 'plastic free zone'
Phagwara, June 3 (UNI) The Railways have declared the Ferozpur Division as "Plastic Free Zone" and those found guilty of using pastic items would be booked under Section 145 of the Railway Act.
Railway sources said here today that use of polythene bags or plastic cups had been strictly banned at all railway stations in the Division. Any vendor or passenger caught making use of any plastic item would be punished accordingly.
A formal circular has been sent to all railway stations by the Divisional Commercial Officer. The Railway Safety Commissioner and the Chief Railway Medical Officer have also been intimated.
Sources said that that spitting on railway platforms would also be punishable act that could lead to cancellation of the ticket of the 'guilty' passenger. The Divisional Railway authorities have also instructed railway officials to take strict action against those who easy themselves along railway tracks.
