Ex-pilot held for shooting boy with air gun
Chennai, June 3 (UNI) An ex-pilot was today arrested and remanded to judicial custody for 15 days for shooting a boy with an air gun at Thiruvanmiyur in South Chennai, last evening.
Police said the ex-pilot, Frank Ilyas, on interrogation, confessed to committing the crime as the local boys hurled stones at the mango tree in his courtyard.
The boy Manikandan (12) was playing with his friends when a gun shot was heard. Hearing the loud sound, all the boys, except Manikandan, ran away. It was fired yet again, targeted at the boy's chest.
The boy was admitted to a hospital, where the doctors removed the bullet.
As the news spread, the locals laid siege to his house, demanding action.
Frank Ilyas said despite of several warnings, the boys continued pelting stones at the mango tree in his courtyard. He shot at the boy, who continued to disregard the warning, out of sheer anger.
