Conservator of Forests in ACB trap
Nagpur, June 3 (UNI) Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths have trapped a Conservator of Forests while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2.20 lakh from a contractor and seized another Rs 13.45 lakh in cash from a briefcase in the officer's possession in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra today.
ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Shriram Todase said the Conservator of Forests (North Chandrapur), Ravindra Mohan Dayal, had demanded a bribe of Rs 3 lakh from Abdul Wahab Nadani, a contractor from Nagpur, for granting him permission to cut and transport bamboo from the jungles in Chandrapur district and to issue him a transit pass for the same.
Mr Nadani had paid an initial amount of Rs 80,000 a few days back, and had agreed to pay the balance later, Mr Todase said.
However, Mr Nadani lodged a complaint with the ACB office in Chandrapur before paying the balance amount, Mr Todase said.
Acting on his complaint, ACB sleuths laid a trap and caught Dayal red-handed while allegedly accepting the money, Mr Todase said.
