Bomb recovered from bus in upper Asom
Guwahati, June 3 (UNI) Passengers of a government bus had a providential escape when a powerful Improvised Explosive Device was recovered from inside the bus this morning.
Defence sources said acting on specific information, the Army intercepted an ASTC passenger bus bound for Sivasagar seconds after it left the terminus at Namrup in Dibrugarh district around 12.15 hours.
The securitymen found a powerful IED packed in a sack inside the bus.
The bomb was taken to a safe place for diffusing, while all the passengers of the bus were detained at Namrup police station for questioning.
The Army suspects it was a handiwork of the ULFA.
Yesterday, Asom police recovered 2 kg RDX and about 10 kg TNT from a house at Sompura under Howraghat police station in Karbi Anglong district. The police arrested the owner of the house and his two sons.
