Lucknow, June 3: Software company Birlasoft, part of the C K Birla Group, will recruit 2,500 IT professionals in the next 12 months to meet the demands of its rapid expansion.

About one-third of these professionals will be picked up directly from engineering and MCA campuses in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and the southern state. The rest will be lateral placements for middle and senior level positions in different technologies and domains, Birlasofts Vice-President (Global Human Resources) Narendra Puppala said.

Birlasoft's headcount has doubled to 4,200 employees worldwide, in the last two years, he added.

''The earlier intake from UP campuses has proved to be fruitful.

The fresh students displayed good learning skills and satisfactory ability to adjust to corporate environment. The recently launched Birlasoft Academy is collaborating with IT academic institutions to update their courses and teaching in keeping with the latest needs of the IT industry,'' Mr Puppala said.

The company is operating three centres in Noida and one each in Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad apart from its units in the US, Europe, Australia, Singapore, Mexico, China and Malaysia.

A new 2000-seat facility is coming up in Noida. Its first phase with 1,000 seats is nearing completion and will be operational in the next four months. The Bangalore centre will be more than doubling its manpower from 400 to 900 soon.
