14-member Gujarat gang arrested
Hyderabad, Jun 3 (UNI) Close on the heels of human trafficking case that unearthed after the arrest of BJP MP Babubhai Katara in New Delhi and the alleged kingpin Rasheed in Hyderabad, another trafficking case came to light with the arrest of 14-member Gujarat based gang in Tandur town of Ranga Reddy district.
Police today said the special police team had raided a lodge in Tandur and picked up the members of the gang led by Moulana from Jamnagar, based on a complaint by Children Rights Protection Forum (CRPF) that they were allegedly involved in smuggling of poor women to Gujarat by performing 'fake marriages' since last year.
Police were questioning all the gang members.
The gang had came to town to marry poor girls by luring their fathers with money and other attractive packages.
The gang used to pay Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 to the parents of the poor girls while leaving for Gujarat along with the girls, sources said.
