Shimla, June 2: A primary school in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh has been closed after failing to attract students following the passing out of two students it had in 2005.

Upper Dochi Primary Government School, about 85 km from here, on the Rohru-Shimla road was closed this year after it failed to enroll any student.

The school, which opened with 10 students in 1997, only had one student each in class four and class five and two teachers in 2005 and one student and two teachers in the successive year following which additional teachers were shifted to the adjoining primary schools at Mandhol and Sundali in the district.

Sources in the state primary education directorate said information about the school having zero enrollment this year has been passed on to the higher authorities after which the school was ordered closed.
