Youth gets lifer in rape case

Manjeri, Kerala, June 2 (UNI) A special court here today sentenced a youth to life imprisonment for attempted rape and murder of a student about four years ago.

Fast Track Court-I Judge K M Balachandran also slapped a penalty of Rs 35,000 on auto driver C K Abdul Nazer after finding him guilty of the murder of Kunnesseri Sajina (17) on August 24, 2003.

According to the prosecution, Nazer, lured the victim to a secluded place at Mankeda Koottil in the district when she was returning from college and strangulated her to death after his rape attempt failed.
