MP: Vehicles moving under police escort
Shajapur(MP), June 2: Vehicular traffic between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan remained disrupted following the pro-reservation agitation by Gurjjars in the desert state even as an attempt was made to ease the situation by sending vehicles on Indore-Kota road under police escort, police said today.
Police was keeping a strict vigil on the situation in areas bordering Rajasthan and vehicles were being sent to Kota since last night under police escort, Acting Superintendent of Police Manohar Singh said.
The situation in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan, bordering MP, was improving and stranded vehicles were being allowed to go to onward destinations, he said.
Both road and rail traffic between both states remained paralysed following the agitation by Gurjjars to include them in Scheduled Tribe category, a 2003 election promise yet to be fulfilled by the ruling BJP in Rajasthan.
