Ullal records 60 to 62 per cent polling
Mangalore, June 2 (UNI) Nearly 60 to 62 per cent of voting was recorded in the by-elections to the Ullal Assembly Constituency in Karnataka which passed off peacefully today.
The polling was held amid tight security with no untoward incident reported.
The fate of five candidates -- U T Khadar (Cong), Chandrasekhar Uchil (BJP), Aboobakar Natekal (JD-S), Balakrishna Shetty (IND) and Bharathraj Shetty (Ind)-- was sealed in the ballot box. Counting would take place on June five.
Police said barring an incident of seizure of a car reportedly carrying Rs one lakh, no other awkward incident was reported.
The polling became necessary following the death of sitting Congress MLA U T Fareed in April/ UNI
