Madhya Pradesh: Sarpanch shot dead

Chhatarpur, MP, June 2: Apparently due to suspected political rivalry, a Sarpanch was shot dead last night at his residence at Manpura village near Nowgaon in this district, police said today.

Police said Ashok Shivhare was killed after power supply in the area was blacked out by three people who followed him when he was returning home on a motor cycle. Police registered case against unidentified people.

Police said Shivhare, who was also correspondent of a regional Hindi daily, faced an attempt on his life three months ago.

His elder brother Brijgopal was also killed one and half year ago due to political rivalry, police added.
