RSS bashes Arjun for imposing sex education on school children
New Delhi, June 2: Accusing Human Resources Minister Arjun Singh for misusing and abusing his ministry, the RSS lashed out at him for introducing sex education in schools from June 2007. A minister who hardly could attend a full day in office has decided that the children in India would learn about sex by using each other as live models, RSS mouthpiece 'Organiser' wrote in an editorial titled 'Arjun's profane obsession'.
Introducing a subject like sex education in school curriculum can't be done at the whims of a minister or his bureaucrats. The syllabus includes blindfolding boys and girls and asking them to feel and discover each other. There is yet another chapter where naked pictures of male and female are to be marked by students, all in the name of fighting AIDS, the paper said.
The issue has to be discussed with the teachers at all levels, all types of schools and the parents and also the opinion of religious leaders and community heads needs to be considered, the paper wrote. It would be preposterous to assume that all students will receive this education with same emotional strength. This could cause mental agony and lead to disastrous conseqeuences and like ragging, this could turn out to be a monster for students, the paper warned.
By educating children on sex one can't save children from AIDS because unprotected sex is the not the only cause of this disease, the paper observed saying that in Delhi, needles are picked for reuse from hospital wastes meant for recycling. Through such education, the government will be pushing the children to early sex rather than saving them from early and unsafe exposure. The only way to stop the disease is through condoms and the government is not equipped to force its use on anyone, let alone children and teenagers, the paper said.
