Minister embarks on a mission to solve urban areas problems
Mysore, Jun 2 (UNI) On a mission to address problems faced by the people in the city Karnataka Co-operatives Minister G T Deve Gowda today went around Mysore leading a battery of officials on a padyatra.
The first of its kind to be witnessed in the city Mr Gowda, who is also the district incharge minister, took officials to task at certain points and ordered on the spot suspension of an assistant engineer for dereliction of duty.
More than 100 officials, including deputy Commissioner S Selva Kumar was part of the padayatra in which the minister visited door to door to hear grievances of people.
Assistant engineer Nagalina Swamy was penalised for regularising an encroachment of a land adjoining storm water drain by the Minister, who also ordered immediate clearance of the encroachment.
Later, while inaugurating a people contact programme by the city corporation he advised the officials to shed the practice of initiating the ministers and politicians to launch programmes and instead invite senior citizens to launch works.
He expressed regret over lack of coordination among the officials of various departments. A task force for city's development and district would be constituted under the leadership of deputy commissioner he added. He urged other officials to take up the various developmental works under various schemes.
He said the public contact programme in the city would be continue until June 25. He asked the officials to take necessary actions and settle the various civic problems.
It may be recalled here that Mr Deve Gowda already taken up the village stay programme for the all the taluk level officials in the district which had received good response.
