Life sentence awarded for bank robbery

Darbhanga, June 2 (UNI) A fast track court here today awarded life imprisonment to a person in connection with a bank robbery case.

Judge Ganga Prasad found Mithilesh Kumar Singh of Jahanpur village under Dhanrua police station in Patna district guilty of bank robbery.

According to the charges, the convict along with two of his friends had looted Rs 22 lakhs from a UCO bank's branch near Tower Chowk under town police station in Darbhanga district on April 4, 2003. However, they were nabbed by the locals while they tried to flee from the spot.

Two of them were lynched by the locals and Mithilesh was handed over to the police.
