Governor condoles R K Patil's demise
Mumbai, Jun 2 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna has condoled the death of noted Sarvodaya leader and Maharashtra Bhushan R K Patil in Nagpur yesterday.
In his message today, Mr Krishna said ''In R K Patil's demise, Maharashtra has lost a great sage, an outstanding human being and a link to the Gandhian era.'' Mr Krisha said that the life of Patil was an inspiring saga of selfless service and sacrifice for the nation. To resign from the then premier ICS at the height of the Quit India Movement and to plunge into the Sarvodaya Movement required a great deal of courage of conviction, which Patil possessed in abundance. After Independence, he held various positions in public life, took part in the Bhoodan movement and remained associated with various Gandhian values.
''I offer my deep respects to the memory of R K Patil and convey my condolences to the members of the bereaved family,'' he added.
