Badwani(MP), June 2 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission's advisory committee member Ambaram Mukati was caught in power theft and a case registered against him, officials said today.

MP West Region Power Distribution Company's inspection team detected the power theft at Mr Mukati's farm at Borlay village on May 30. Mr Mukati was found running an additional pump set from a single connection, SEB Superintending Engineer S L Gupta said.

Power theft cases were registered against five other prominent farmers of the village, Mr Gupta said.

Mr Mukati, a rich farmer, had earlier launched many movements against power cut and he had been nominated to the Commission's advisory committee as a representative of farmers.

When contacted, Mr Mukati said he had no information that an additional motor had been installed in his farm.
