Dowry harassment; Woman commits suicide

Visakhapatnam, June 2: A young woman allegedly committed suicide reportedly due to dowry harassment here today.

Police said K Durga (25) wife of Nageswara Rao took the extreme step by hanging at her house.

It was said that Durga's father Ramana, working in Indian Navy, had promised Rao's father that he would give Rs five lakh as 'dowry' at the time of wedding.

But as Ramana failed to give the money completely, the families picked up frequent quarrels.

Meanwhile Durga, who was caught in between the quarrels, decided to take the extreme step, police added.
