CBI raids five business establishments dealing with Army
Ambala/Patiala, Jun 2 (UNI) Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) teams conducted simultaneous raids on five business establishments at Rai market in Ambala Cantt and Patiala yesterday, police soruces today said.
These establishments are engaged in supplying automobile parts and other items to the army. The CBI teams were led by DSP Karnail Singh.
The raids continued for several hours during which the CBI officials scanned documents, registers and ledgers containing details of the purchases and sales.
The establishments that were raided include Sondhi Automobile, Chopra Automobile, Manmohan Automobile and Pragati Trading Company.
The CBI officials are learnt to be inquiring about the sources from where these dealers made purchases, and to which army units the supplies had been made.
It is learnt that the CBI conducted raids after getting complaints of duplicate or sub standard automobile parts being supplied to the Army.
Reports said that after the raids the CBI had registered cases against seven persons who were suppling sub standard material to the army. Further investigations are still being conducted.
