AIADMK stir to press for shifting dumpyard

Chennai, June 2 (UNI) The opposition AIADMK will organise an agitation on June six at Salem to condemn the alleged inaction of the Salem Corporation to shift the Kichiplayam dumpyard out of the city.

In a statement here today, AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa said the residents were suffering due to the dumpyard being located at the centre of the city, Kichipalayam. Due to the garbage dumping yard, the ground water was polluted and had become unfit for use.

In spite of petitions, road-rokos and protests organised by the public, the Corporation had not taken any steps to solve the problem.

Various wings of the AIADMK, including women and youth wings, would participate in the agitation, she added.
