80 pc polling recorded in Manipur bypolls
Imphal, June 2: About 80 per cent of the 52,265 voters exercised their franchise today in the byelections to Khangabok and Khundrakpam Assembly constituencies.
The elections were largely peaceful, officials said.
The fate of Ms O Landhoni, wife of Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi, and two candidates were sealed in the EVMS at Khangabok and also that of six candidates at Khundrakpam.
Apart from Ms Landhoni (Congress), other candidates for Khangabok were Md Qutub Ali (NCP) and Kh Angou (Samajwadi Party). The Chief Minister had vacated the seat as he won in two constituencies in the elections held in February last.
The six candidates for Khundrakpam A/C seat were L Lala (BJP), H Bimola (Samata Party), N Singhajit(MPP), L Premchand (CPI), Th Lokeshore (INC) and K Tomba (NCP).
