Peaceful voting in Goa, 66 per cent recorded
New Delhi, Jun 02: Goa recorded 66 per cent voting in peaceful elections to the 40-member state Assembly today.
''Polling was good despite rain in many parts of the state this morning,'' Deputy Election Commissioner Raj Rishi Bhatacharya said here this evening.
The voting percentage could go up as there were queues outside many polling booths when their gates were closed at 1700 hrs, he said.
There were no reports of any irregularity so far, the official added.
Counting of votes would take place on June 5.
By-poll to seven Assembly constitutencies across five states and one Parliamentary constitutency in Himachal Pradesh was also held today.
Highest polling -- 89 per cent -- was recorded in Khangabok Assembly constitutency of Manipur while the Shivpuri Assembly constitutency in Madhya Pradesh recorded the lowest, 47 per cent.
Hamirpur Parliamentary constitutency recorded 60 per cent polling.
