35 per cent polling till noon
Mangalore, June 2 (UNI) About 35 per cent voting was reported till afternoon in the Ullal Assembly by-election here today.
According to official sources, the polling which began on a dull note, picked up in the afternoon.
Complaints about denial of permission to vote for not carrying an identity card, names missing in the voter's list were reported in large numbers.
District Election Officer has given strict instructions not to permit voters who did not carry the identity cards already issued to them. The identity cards were issued to 90 per cent of the 1.69 lakh voters.
Polling was peaceful with police maintaining strict vigil near the booths.
