32 per cent polling till noon in Shivpuri
Shivpuri, MP, Jun 2 (UNI) Notwithstanding the heat wave lashing the area, about 32 per cent of the 1.96 lakh electorate exercised their franchise till noon today for the Assembly byelection in Shivpuri.
Polling was progressing by and large peacefully, officials said, adding about 15 per cent polling was recorded in the first two hours and about 25 per cent in four hours as the booths opened at 0700 hours.
In a minor incident, three people suffered minor injuries in a clash between two groups near the polling booth at Kakarvaya village near here.
Tight security arrangements with deployment of five companies each of CRPF and Special Armed Force were made at all 216 polling booths.
Fifteen candidates were in the fray in the byelection necessitated by the resignation of then State Tourism Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia (BJP) on her election to the Lok Sabha from Gwalior.
