Jaipur, Jun 1(UNI) With the reopening of the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway for traffic, the authorities today preferred to accord due priority to those who were waiting for proceeding to Haridwar for immersion of ashes of their elders or kin into the holy Ganga river.

Home Secretary V S Singh told reporters that there were a number of passengers waiting with the urns, at the railway station or/and bus stands for proceeding for Hardwar as soon as bus or train services resume.

''Five buses carrying such passengers were sent today for Haridwar with adequate police escort for safe journey,'' he said.

He said that the authorities were also contemplating arrangements for evacuation of about 8000 pilgrims stranded near Balaji Shrine in Dausa district.
