Three charred to death as tea labourers clash

Guwahati, June 1 (UNI) Three of a family were charred to death by irate tea labourers in upper Asom last night.

Police today said workers of Khobang tea estate under Talap police station of Tinsukia district assaulted Bogen Saudal, his wife and son late last night, locked them in their house and set it on fire.

The workers alleged that the trio had a hand in the killing of a chowkidar of the tea estate Abiram Nayak. Nayak's body was found on May 27 in the garden.

Senior police officials rushed to the spot, and investigation was on. Situation was presently tense in the area.

Meanwhile, the body of a woman was recovered at Sialkottee tea estate in the nearby Chabua area this morning.

The bodies of the deceased were yet to be identified.
