Tata Motors sales dips 4 pc in May

New Delhi, June 1 (UNI) Country's top bus and truck maker Tata Motors Ltd today said its vehicle sales dipped four per cent to 42,558 units in May.

Sales of commercial vehicles fell six per cent to 20,675 units from 21,903 units a year ago, while sales of passenger vehicles dipped three per cent to 17,580 units.

Exports remained flat with 4,303 vehicles sold in May 2007 as compared to 4,339 vehicles in May 2006.

The company's sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market were 20,675 units, a decline of 6 per cent over 21,903 vehicles sold in May last year.

''Vehicles sales in the domestic market were impacted, in varying degrees between the commercial and passenger vehicles segments, due to the high interest rate regime severely affecting retails,'' a statement said.
