Sweet shops raided for adulteration
Phagwara, June 1 (UNI) Food inspectors of the Kapurthala health department raided sweets shops in the city here today after receiving information that they were selling adulterated sweets prepared in unhygienic conditions.
The team of health officials led by Senior Food Inspector Ashok Nayyar took samples of various sweets from these eating joints for lab tests.
The food inspectors also found that the manufacturers were using an artificial sweetener saccharine in the products, which is illegal. Moreover, the products were also being manufactured in unhygienic conditions.
