Security beefed up in Haryana
Chandigarh, June 1 (UNI) The Haryana Police today beefed up security in the state in the wake of reports of protests and demonstrations by the Gujjar community in some parts of the state.
A spokesman of Police department said one company each of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had been deputed at Gurgaon and Faridabad as a precautionary measure.
Director General of Police (DGP) Ranjiv Dalal said prohibitory orders under section 144 had been imposed in 11 districts of the state.
He said no one would be allowed to damage government and public property and stern action would be taken against those trying to take law into their hands.
The DGP directed the state police force to strengthen its intelligence wing and maintain a strict vigil on the anti-social elements which were trying to foment trouble. Peace, amity and harmony must be maintained in the society, he added.
He also directed the police chiefs of all districts to constitute peace committees of responsible people who were associated with the agitation for solving the problem amicably.
