Security beefed up for Daltonganj bypoll
Daltonganj, Jun 1 (UNI) By-election to Daltonganj assembly seat, seen as an 'acid test' for former Assembly Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari, would be held tomorrow amidst tight security.
About 2,53,695 electorate are expected to cast their votes in 241 polling booths. Apart from Mr Namdhari(Independent), there are 23 candidates in the fray.
Deputy Commissioner cum electoral officer Nagendra Prasad Singh said about 16 companies of para-military forces and 31 of state police would be deployed during the poll. 12 magistrates would also be deployed to maintain law and order in urban areas.
According to political analysts the main contest would be between Mr Namdhari and Anil Chaurasia of All Jharkhand Students Union.
Besides, Ms Neelu Mishra of JD(U), K N Tripathi of Congress and Bobby Khan from Bahujan Samaj Party were trying to make their presence felt.
The by-election was necessiated after Mr Namdhari, a former JD(U) leader, resigned from Daltonganj following intra party conflict.
