Free roaming for mobile customers by RComm
New Delhi, Jun 1: Responding to zero roaming for the first 300 minutes (5 hours) offered by state-run BSNL and MTNL, private telecom operator Reliance Communications (RComm) today launched 900 minutes (15 hours) free roaming for its post-paid customers with immediate effect.
RComm subscribers will get 900 minutes free talk time per month on the 'India Roam Free Plan 990', including 400 minutes of free local calling.
A nominal charge of 50 paise for local calls and Re 1 for STD calls would be applicable for customers under this tariff plan, company's President (Personal Business) S P Shukla said in a statement.
The 'India Roam Free Plan 390' offered 200 free minutes of incoming calls while roaming.
The new roaming rates are targeted towards frequently travelling high usage subscribers. With this new plan the company expects to tap the highly mobile business class.
Public sector giants BSNL and MTNL also slashed their respective roaming tariffs to as low as Re 1 a minute today after 300 minutes.
RComm had slashed roaming tariffs by as much as 70 per cent only late last month. The rates had then fallen to Re 1 from Rs 1.75 per minute for all incoming calls for post-paid customers and 40 paise a minute for pre-paid customers.
