Chennai, Jun 1 (UNI) Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M), a part of the US dollar 4.5 billion Mahindra Group, today claimed to have consolidated its leadership position in the automotive segment substantially in May with total vehicle sales of 18,116 units, a growth of 49.5 per cent over the corresponding month last year.

Mahindra Renault Logan received resounding response from customers in the 11 cities it had been launched so far, clocking 2,786 units in sales in less than a month since the first car was delivered in May, a company release here said.

Utility vehicles, including the Scorpio and the Bolero, sold over 10,986 units in May compared to 8,945 units last year.

On the export front, the company's automotive sector clocked sales of 802 vehicles in May as opposed to 486 units in the corresponding period last fiscal.
