Manipur prepares for tomorrow's by-election

Imphal, June 1 (UNI) Preparations were complete for tomorrow's by-elelction to Khangabok and Khundrakpam assembly constituencies.

Chief Electoral Officer R R Rashmi said all the polling stations will be considered sensitive.

The fate of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh's wife O Landhoni of Congress will be decided at Khangabok in Thoubal district. The Congress has 29 MLAs in the 60-member Assembly and if it wins both the seats it will have absolute majority.

Three candidates are in the fray for the Khangabok seat and six for Khundrakpam of Imphal East. In Khangabok apart from Mrs Landhoni, Md Qutub Ali(NCP) and Kh Angou(Samajwadi Party) are in the fray. Mr Ibobi had vacated the seat as he won in two constituencies in the elections held in February.

Six candidates are in the fray for Khundrakpam A/C seat. They are L Lala (BJP), H Bimola (Samata Party), N Singhajit (MPP), L Premchand (CPI), Th Lokeshore (INC) and K Tomba (NCP).
