Lok Paritan to expand base in TN

Chennai, Jun 1 (UNI) After marking its presence in the electoral arena, the fledgling Lok Paritran today announced that it would expand its base throughout Tamil Nadu to prepare for the Lok Sabha elections in 2009.

Talking to newspersons here, Lok Paritran state president Aravind Seshagiri said '' with a view to creating a strong base in the south, party offices were opened in Madurai and Coimbatore.

'' Vanchi Narayanan, an active member and currently working for building Lok Paritran in Madurai, will be contesting the bypoll from Madurai (West) slated for June 26,'' Mr Seshagiri said, adding he would file his nomination papers within a few days.

Pointing out that his party's aim was to create a strong organisational structure across the country, he said ''we are making significant progress to achieve that objective.'' 'Even if the party fails to win the Madurai West seat, we will definetely put up an impressive show in the byelection,' he told a questioner.

''The state unit of Lok Paritram was politically active last year by launching several welfare projects, he said adding ''we have organised Right To Information (RTI) workshops to educate the public, street cleaning and neighbourhood cleanliness projects besides acting as a platform for the people to voice their problem and concerns to the government.''
