JMM should resign from Centre and state government: Front
Jamshedpur, Jun 1 (UNI) Newly constituted Jharkhand Front today urged the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha(JMM) to withdraw its support to the Centre as well the Jharkhand government in protest against the delimitation committee's recommendation to reduce the number of 'adivasi' seats in Jharkhand.
Front ally, Jharkhand People's Party (JPP) general secretary Surya Singh Besra said the JMM should take responsibility as its MP Hemlal Murmu and party leader Sushila Hansda, despite being the members of the delimitation commission, failed to protect the interest of the "adivasis." Mr Besra said the JMM should lodge its protest and withdraw its support to the Union government as well as the Jharkhand government. He said as per the amendment of the Constitution in 1984 no changes should be brought about in the status of the Loksabha and the Assembley seats till 1926.
He alleged the commission was hatching a conspiracy in a preplanned way to reduce seats of the adivasis in the state.
Mr Besra was sceptical about the 2001 census, which said the population of adivasis was decreasing in the state, and urged the Madhu Koda Government to exert pressure on the Centre to safeguard the interests of the tribal population.
