Guntur, June 1 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Housing Minister B Satyanarayana has said he would step up the pace of the execution of the gigantic 'Indiramma' Housing Programme in Andhra Pradesh.

Talking to newspersons here last night after reviewing the progress of the scheme, which aims at building about 17 lakh houses for the poor in the first phase, he claimed that about four and a half lakh units have been grounded so far and another five lakh houses would be completed in the next two months.

For hastening the construction of works, each taluk will be divided into three clusters and the taluk level housing staff would be strengthened, he said.

''A unique feature of the programme is supply of housing material like cement, sand and steel to the beneficiaries at subsidised prices,'' the minister said and outlined the progress of other housing programme like 'Rajiv Gruha Kalpa' and 'Rajiv Swagruha Programmes'.
