HMIL receives Top exporter Award
New Delhi, June 1 (UNI) Country's largest auto exporter Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) today received the 'Top Exporter of the Year' (2005-06) in the category of 'Large Enterprises' by the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC).
''The honour accentuates our endeavour to be one of the major contributors to the country's rapidly growing economy, playing our part in India's growth as an exporter,'' HMIL's Managing Director H S Lheem said.
Hyundai Motor last year exported 1,13,339 cars to markets like Latin America, West Asia, European Union and Africa.
Santro, also known as the Atos Prime in many markets, is the leading brand. The other models exported are the Accent and Getz.
Currently, it exports about 35 per cent of its existing production to 67 countries.
The commissioning of Hyundai's second plant by the end of 2007 is expected to boost sales in the domestic market and double the export volume.
HMIL is aiming to increase its export levels to 50 per cent of its total production by 2008, Mr Lheem said.
Commerce Minister Kamal Nath gave away the award to Mr Lheem.
