Bhubaneswar, Jun 1 (UNI) After evading arrest, Orissa's Director General of Police (Home Guard) B B Mohanti joined his duty today.

He was wanted by Rajashtan police for abetting his son Bitti Mohanti to jump parole.

A four-member team of Rajasthan police, led by DSP Mukund Behari, finally left Cuttack last night after making four days abortive attempt to arrest Mohanti.

Mohanti, who was on sick leave from May 27, a day prior to the arrival of Rajasthan police, joined his duty today.

Mr Behari, when contacted, told reporters that he would submit a report to a Jaipur court on their failure to trace the senior IPS officer. He said they would pray again before the court for issuance of a non-bailable warrant for Mohanti.

The DSP said they were called up by their senior officials to return after both the Orissa Home Secretary and the DGP categorically told them that in case of arrest, Mohanti would not be allowed to be taken to Jaipur and instead would be produce before a local court here.

The DGP is wanted by the police after his son Bitti, convicted and sentenced to seven years' imprisonment in a German woman rape case, jumped parole granted for a fortnight and remained untraced since December 4.

DGP Mohanti when contacted by reporters said he was sick and so went on leave for five days from May 27. He also clarified that he was not admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital as certain facilities were not available for his treatment there.

He said he had already filed a writ petition before the Rajhsthan High Court seeking quashing of the FIR filed against him by the Lal Kothi police station. He, however, had withdrawn the petition filed before the Orissa High Court praying for quashing of the FIR in view of the Supreme Court order, staying further proceedings of the matter in the Orissa High Court.
